Akuvox Video Intercoms and Entry Systems in Washington, DC
RBD Security installs, customizes and manages Akuvox video intercoms for apartment buildings, condo associations, offices and gated communities across Washington, DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia. Akuvox door stations combine a touchscreen directory, a keypad, card and fob readers and, on some models, facial recognition. Residents answer visitors on a phone app or an indoor monitor. We handle the mounting, wiring, programming and branding, then manage the system remotely. Call (202) 709-9466.
What Akuvox makes
Akuvox builds IP video intercoms and the pieces around them:
- Door stations for building and gate entrances, from compact keypad units to large touchscreen directories for apartment buildings.
- Indoor monitors for units or a front desk, where residents see and talk to visitors.
- Access control readers and built-in options for PIN codes, cards and fobs, and facial recognition on supported models.
- A cloud platform and resident app that let residents answer from their phones and let managers add or remove people from anywhere.
Akuvox devices use standard SIP calling, so they can also work with a building’s VoIP phone system.
Why buildings choose Akuvox
- A modern touchscreen entrance that residents and visitors find easy to use.
- Several ways in at one panel: PIN code, card or fob, phone app, guest QR code and, where supported, face recognition.
- Move-ins and move-outs handled in software, not by rekeying or reprogramming on site.
- Standard network wiring with power over Ethernet, and room to grow with more doors and indoor monitors.
What RBD does on an Akuvox project
- Survey and design: we choose the right door station and plan the wiring, power and network at the entrance.
- Custom mounting: backplates, pedestals and flush mounts in brick, stone or metal. We fabricate brackets and posts in our own shop when an off-the-shelf mount will not do.
- Locks and gates: we connect the panel to electric strikes, magnetic locks, exit devices and gate operators, and to access control.
- Programming: the directory, entry codes, schedules and resident app accounts, plus a custom welcome screen with the building’s branding.
- Ongoing management: the property manager or board sends us changes, and we make them remotely.
Connecting the entrance
Akuvox panels normally run on the building’s network. Where the entrance has no network, such as a gate at the end of a long drive, a cellular router can connect the panel instead. Our telephone entry systems page compares cellular, VoIP and phone-line options for community entrances.
Akuvox or another system?
RBD also installs DoorKing, 2N and CellGate, so we are not limited to one platform. DoorKing suits communities that want a simple telephone directory at the gate. CellGate suits cellular-only gates. 2N and Akuvox suit buildings that want video and app-based entry. We will price the options side by side. See our intercom brands and our guide to cloud vs. on-site costs.
